CIPC: registering the company
CIPC registration turns your hustle into a legally recognised company with a registration number. This is the foundation everything else sits on. It is what lets you open a business bank account in the company name, sign contracts as a company, and appear credible to clients who will not deal with an unregistered individual. Most small businesses in South Africa qualify as an Exempted Micro Enterprise, which means your B-BBEE status can be confirmed with a simple sworn affidavit rather than an expensive audit. Many owners do not realise how straightforward this is and either skip it or overpay someone for it. It is quick, it is cheap, and it strengthens every quote you submit.
